Vandenberg Boys & Girls Club kids collected nine boxes full of shoes and toiletries for an orphanage in Kyrgyzstan
Vandenberg kids know the meaning of service because their parents serve our country in the military. This year, Vandenberg youth gave back to their community in many ways. In April, the Keystone Club collected food and gently used clothing for the homeless at the Rescue Mission in Santa Maria. Torch Club members supported the Shadow Fund, a local organization for rescue dogs and horses, with in-kind donations. On September 11th, this year’s National Day of Service, Vandenberg kids cleaned up trash around the Youth Center and in the adjacent skate park. In September and October, the Vandenberg Youth Center sent nine boxes full of shoes and toiletries to an orphanage in Kyrgyzstan. The kids raised the $120 needed to ship the shoes and also wrote letters to the children at the orphanage.
