Abdi, along with 30 fellow members from the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Salt Lake, clears debris to prevent wildfires
Work hard, work together – that’s how kids give back at the Lied Boys & Girls Club, one of four Clubs within the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Salt Lake. Recently, Lied kids united with kids from all four Greater Salt Lake Clubs to protect Red Butte Gardens, a popular nature preserve near downtown Salt Lake City. Never afraid to get their hands dirty, 30 kids helped prevent wildfires by clearing flammable debris from the forest floor. The work was rough, but thanks to our kids, thousands will continue to enjoy the beautiful preserve. However, it’s not just Red Butte benefitting from our kids’ hard work. When our kids give back, they’re participating in a rich tradition of service in their community. Salt Lake City was recently ranked the third most generous city in the country based on volunteerism, and our kids uniting to give back is emblematic of this culture of charity. By working hard and working together, our kids give back by advancing their community’s commitment to service.
